The problem

Psychiatric intake is time-intensive

Psychiatric intake and assessment is one of the most time-intensive parts of mental healthcare, and demand in Israel has continued to grow. A Sheba Medical Center team identified the need in 2021, but the technology available at the time couldn't support the approach they envisioned.

An idea first explored at Sheba in 2021, now cleared for psychiatric triage in Israel.
The solution

LIV: structured assessment through conversation

Through voice or text, LIV gathers information about a patient's symptoms, history and circumstances and organizes it into structured clinical summaries. Assessment and severity indicators help clinicians identify potentially urgent cases and determine appropriate next steps.

Diagnosis and treatment decisions remain with qualified mental health professionals.

Milestones
  • 2021: Concept first explored at Sheba Medical Center
  • 2023: Development resumed through Sheba's ARC Innovation Center with Microsoft and KPMG
  • 2024: Mentaily founded, with LIV as its first commercial product
  • 2025: $3M seed round; LIV in use across hospitals, HMOs, rehabilitation centers and government organizations in Israel
  • April 2026: Cleared by Israel's Ministry of Health for psychiatric triage, following clinical studies involving 385 patients
